Airbag Diagnostic Challenges after deployment.
o When an airbag deploys, stress is applied to the airbag wiring harness and connectors.
o Proper airbag replacement should include a circuit test to verify if the system wiring and connectors have been damaged.
o SRS control units are not like other vehicle control units. In many SRS systems, fault codes cannot be erased unless other test procedures have been performed and, in some cases, the control unit needs to be changed.
o Care must be taken to not introduce high resistance values greater than OE  specifications through the wiring harness during diagnostic process. Damage could occur to the OE or a new SRS control unit.
o 1/10th of an Ohm variance from the OE spec could trigger an indicator light or damage the SRS system.
o If the SRS / Airbag dash light is illuminated and an airbag has not been deployed, the problem could be a faulty airbag. Disconnect the airbag connector, plug in a simulator plug with the proper resister replacing the airbag, check to see if the dash light switches off.

The HU31026 Airbag Simulator Resistor Reset Kit
HU31026 provides 5 resistors to properly replicate the OE factory airbag resistance.
Install the correct resistance simulators to replicate these components:
• Steering wheel airbag
• Passenger dash airbag
• Curtain airbag
• Side airbag
• Seat belt pretensioners
• Other components with a inflating airbag

Many competitive kits only include one (1) 2.5 Ohm simulator resistor. The HU31026 kit
includes four (4) universal harness plugs and four (4) of each resister values: 1.8, 2.2,
2.5, 2.7 and 3.3 Ohms to properly simulate the airbag / pretensioner resistance called
for by the OE specifications.

Test Procedures:
o Choose the correct resistor specified for the vehicle, verify the resistance is correct  using a OBD scanner
o If the scanner detects values not aligned with the correct resistor value, the wiring harness & connectors need to be checked for damage and in some case the SRS control unit will need to be replaced.
o Changing the SRS without testing the electrical system runs the risk of locking the ECU.
o HU31026 simulators are intended for diagnostic use only
